International Tickets
Fares for the ČD Segment in International Transport
Basic types of international fares
When issuing an international ticket at a ČD ticket counter (including contractual partners), the fare for the ČD segment is charged per the ČD NRT (“Non-Reservation-Integrated Ticket”) fare as follows:
- regular fare with a 50% discount off the ČD NRT fare (passengers need not demonstrate eligibility),
- customer fare with a 62.5% discount off the ČD NRT fare (at the time of purchase and ticket inspection, passengers must demonstrate eligibility for the IN 25, IN 50, IN 100, In junior or In senior discount, unless stated otherwise for a specific offer),
- special fare with various discounts off the ČD NRT fare (e.g. tickets as part of special offers, tickets with a FIP 50% card discount etc.),
- ČD NRT fare without a discount (tickets issued in transit, e.g. Schöna Gr. – Břeclav Gr.).
We sell various types of travel documents for international transport:
- tickets for a specific route – so-called NRT tickets (issued under the Special Conditions of International Carriage for Non-Reservation Tickets); generally valid one month; various discounts are provided off the fare; it is also possible to purchase a seat reservation for the ticket
- tickets for a specific day and train – so-called IRT tickets; containing a ticket and seat reservation or couchette or sleeper supplements, possibly service
- network tickets – so-called RPT tickets; valid on a selected network of railway lines, on selected trains, without limitation as to the number of kilometres travelled
- tickets for special offers
In international transport, certain tickets can be issued to the so-called border point. This is the point on a railway line where the territory of one state ends and that of another begins. It is usually named after the previous railway station on the territory of one of the states and after the name is the abbreviation Gr. (Grenze = border). For example, on the line between Děčín and the Dresden, the border point is Schöna Gr.
On higher-quality trains of the EuroCity and InterCity category with international tickets there is no supplement for using these trains (exceptions: Italy, inland trains in Hungary). If the symbol “R” in a box is listed in the timetable, however, passengers must purchase a seat reservation.
International tickets are also valid with ČD for boarding and disembarking at stations in the entire circuit of the station specified on the ticket. For example, a ticket issued to the station Praha (without specification of a specific station) is valid to Praha hl.n., Praha Masarykovo n., Praha-Radotín, etc.
International Ticket Prices
Prices for international tickets are set in euros. The price in Czech crowns which you pay at the ticket counter or on the Internet is determined by a conversion according to current Uniform Railway Exchange rates.. On our web pages there is a provisional price in CZK and in parentheses a fixed price in euros, e.g. “c. CZK 260 (EUR 10)”. You can determine the current price by calculating from EUR to CZK using the current Uniform Railway Exchange rate.
