Railroad Kingdom
Visit the largest model railroad in the Czech Republic...
On 1 July 2009 at the Anděl City shopping complex in Prague’s Smíchov district, the first 115 sq m were opened of the largest model railroad in the Czech Republic. After another four years of construction, the project – called Railroad Kingdom – will reach a total of 1,008 sq m net area of track, and the overall area of the exposition including educational and relaxation space will be some three thousand square metres. Every three months the model track will gradually grow new segments. In its first phase, Railroad Kingdom became the largest model railroad in the Czech Republic, and after completion it will also be the largest exposition of its kind in central and eastern Europe. ČD customers receive a discount of up to 15 % on admission to Railroad Kingdom.
The introductory area of the model track represents a cross-section of all technologies and building elements that are used on other segments of the Railroad Kingdom project. Visitors will see several dominant features of the Czech Republic, movable automobiles and many other technical gadgets. A system of miniature cameras in the locomotives provides viewers a direct experience of a journey through the miniature landscape. Railroad Kingdom will also include a permanent exhibition of the history of railway on Czech territory and an educational programme for schools prepared in the spirit of the modern concept of the Ministry of Education.
Railroad Kingdom will ultimately represent a sort of model Czech Republic. Visitors will see models of the major dominant features of the Czech Republic. A model train will take them, for example, to Ještěd, Karlštejn and Prague Castle. The project’s objective is to make the most of the miniature reality. Night and day alternate here at regular intervals, and trains run according to exact timetables. The project is modeled after large model tracks abroad, of which the best known is Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg, which attracts more than one million visitors each year.
ČD, which is a partner in the Railroad Kingdom project, has prepared a special offer for its customers. Anyone presenting a ČD ticket of any value valid on the day of the visit will be granted a 10 % discount on admission. In-karta cardholders enjoy an even bigger discount – 15 %.

The largest model railroad in the Czech Republic – Railroad Kingdom – has opened a Lego exhibition which is unprecedented in the Czech Republic in its extent. It is not only the largest in the Czech Republic, but in all of central and eastern Europe. In the Lego exposition you will see a complete presentation of all sets currently offered on the market by Lego. Absolutely new sets, which will only appear on the market in several months’ time, can be viewed as well. On an area of 80 sq m, an enchanting model city and landscape has emerged, created from a total of 95 models of Lego sets. Another 79 separate models can be admired in display cases. For children, there is a kids’ corner with Lego sets where they can try out their own creativity and fantasy for themselves. Popular Lego films are also screened in the kids’ corner at regular intervals.
