What is an In Karta Card?

In-karta Valid from 11 December 2016

ČD’s chip In Karta card serves as a carrier for travel documents and discounts. It will bring you a range of attractive benefits – from a 25% discount on fares to cashless payments...

In Karta card

An In Karta card is a plastic chip card the size of a regular payment card onto which certain of the offered discount applications can be recorded enabling the cardholder to purchase tickets at a discount. It is intended mainly for regular ČD customers.

For example, if you record the IN 25 application onto your In Karta card, you will receive a 25% discount off the regular fare, return tickets and commuter tickets. During an inspection of tickets by the conductor, you will demonstrate your eligibility for the discount by presenting your In Karta card. One of the offered applications is the IN 100 network ticket, with which you can travel on all ČD trains in 2nd carriage class without purchasing additional tickets (for SC Pendolino trains and other required-reservation trains, it is necessary to purchase a seat reservation as well).

Your In Karta card can also serve as an electronic wallet, which you can charge up with money and then pay tickets with it at the ticket office or on the train. At the ticket office, it is necessary to announce in advance that you intend to pay with your electronic wallet.

With an application on your In Karta card, you can also purchase First Minute Czech (Včasná jízdenka Česko) tickets or Special-Offer (Akční jízdenka) tickets for inexpensive travel between selected cities in the Czech Republic at reduced prices.

You can obtain an In Karta card either at the ČD ticket counter by filling in the necessary form (or you can bring it already filled in from home), or online through the ČD e-shop.
