What is an In Karta Card?
Valid from 13 December 2015
ČD’s chip In Karta card serves as a carrier for travel documents and discounts. It will bring you a range of attractive benefits – from a 25% discount on fares to cashless payments...
In Karta card
An In Karta card is a plastic chip card the size of a regular payment card. It is intended mainly for regular ČD customers who, thanks to their In Karta cards, can travel by train for less. Certain discounts can be recorded on an In Karta card in the form of so-called applications. Thanks to these applications, passengers can purchase tickets with a corresponding discount.
For example, if you record the IN 25 application onto your In Karta card, you will be entitled to a 25% discount off the regular and return fares, and off the price of commuter tickets. You can use this discount each time you purchase a ticket. During an inspection by the conductor, you will demonstrate your eligibility for the discount by presenting your In Karta card. You can also record an IN 100 network ticket onto your In Karta card, which allows you to travel on all ČD trains without purchasing more tickets (with the exception of required reservations on SC Pendolino trains).
Your In Karta card can also serve as an electronic wallet, which you can charge up with money and then purchase tickets with it at ticket vending machines or cashlessly at the ticket office or on the train. At the ticket office, it is necessary to announce in advance that you intend to pay with your electronic wallet.
With an application on your In Karta card, you can also purchase First Minute Czech (Včasná jízdenka Česko) tickets or Special-Offer (Akční jízdenka) tickets for inexpensive travel between selected cities in the Czech Republic at reduced prices.
You can obtain an In Karta card either at the ČD ticket counter by filling in the necessary form (or you can bring it already filled in from home), or online through the ČD eShop.
