RAILPLUS offers

In Karta cardholders enjoy significant savings on selected international tickets thanks to the RAILPLUS offer, which is part of every newly issued In Karta card.

You will enjoy a 15% discount off the basic international fare when travelling on selected railways in Europe.

When purchasing a new In Karta card with any customer discount application (IN 25, IN 50, IN 100, you will receive the RAILPLUS discount automatically free of charge as a bonus, indicated in the form of a logo right on your In Karta card.

Terms and conditions of the RAILPLUS discount

The red RAILPLUS logo is part of the In Karta card with the RAILPLUS application. RAILPLUS is a discount in international transport intended for passengers in all age categories and is part of a newly purchased In Karta card with the IN 25, IN 50, IN 100 or IN Business. You will receive the RAILPLUS discount even if you request a new In Karta card without any of these applications (e.g. to use as an electronic wallet – EPIK). You can use the RAILPLUS discount for the duration of your In Karta card’s term of validity, i.e. up to 6 years.

It is not possible to purchase a separate RAILPLUS application.

What kind of discount does RAILPLUS offer?

Upon presenting an In Karta card with the RAILPLUS logo, the passenger will receive a 15% discount off the regular fare (off the relevant carrier’s SCIC-NRT international tariff) when purchasing tickets to most European countries. The 15% discount applies to 1st and 2nd class fares. Supplements for using certain trains and carriages as well as reservation fees (e.g. seat reservation, sleeper supplement, couchette supplement) are paid in the full amount, in most cases.

To what kind of tickets does the RAILPLUS discount apply?

You can purchase tickets directly (understood as tickets issued for the territory of at least two states, e.g. Prague – Krakow). You can also receive a discount on international trains for which it is necessary to purchase a ticket with an integrated reservation (a ticket with a global price).

The RAILPLUS discount can be used for train journeys on the following railways: ATTICA Group, BDŽ (Bulgaria), ČD (Czech Republic), ZRSM Transport (Macedonia), CFR (Romania), CIE (Ireland), CP (Portugal), DB (Germany), DSB (Denmark), Trenitalia (Italy), HŽŽP (Croatia), MÁV and GYSEV (Hungary), NS (Netherlands), VY (Norway), ÖBB (Austria), TRAINOSE (Greece), PKP IC (Poland), RENFE (Spain), SBB/CFF (Switzerland), SNCB (Belgium), SNCF (France – not valid on trains requiring a ticket with an integrated reservation), SZ (Slovenia), VR (Finland), ZPCG (Montenegro), ZRS and ZFBH (Bosnia and Herzegovina), SV (Serbia) and ZSSK (Slovakia).

The railways LDz (Latvia), LG (Lithuania) and UZ (Ukraine) also recognise and issue tickets with the RAILPLUS discount, but ČD does not provide the RAILPLUS discount when selling tickets to these countries – passengers are ticketed according to the reduced fare under the East-West Tariff (when issuing tickets under SCIC-EWT in transit via Slovakia, the RAILPLUS discount is not provided either, and passengers are ticketed for the reduced fare under this tariff).

Additional discounts with the In Karta/RAILPLUS card

20% discount off the regular fare for journeys to Slovakia (when ticketing in the Czech Republic, from the international border to the destination station in Slovakia; when ticketing at a ticket office in Slovakia, to the international border with the Czech Republic)
discount on the Vltava-Danube Ticket, the Vltava-Danube Ticket+
discount on the inland segment per the application recorded on the In Karta/RAILPLUS card (only when issued in the ČD network)

RAILPLUS and provisional In Karta cards

For the period after you submit the request and until the chip In Karta/RAILPLUS card has been finished, you will receive a provisional In Karta card at the ticket counter. It is not possible to purchase discounted international tickets using a provisional In Karta card. Discounts on international tickets are linked to the red RAILPLUS logo, which is only on the completed chip In Karta/RAILPLUS card. If you would like to use the RAILPLUS discount immediately, however, we will issue you a temporary paper In Karta/RAILPLUS card at the ticket counter after submitting your request for an In Karta card. The temporary paper In Karta/RAILPLUS card will be valid until your completed chip In Karta card is ready, and will enable you to purchase discounted international tickets. It will be necessary, however, for you to submit an extra photograph when you submit your In Karta card request (i.e. two in total). It is not possible to request a temporary paper In Karta/RAILPLUS card subsequently or when ordering an In Karta card through the ČD e-shop.

FAQs

Can I purchase discounted international tickets using a provisional In Karta card?

Discounts on international tickets are linked to the RAILPLUS logo, which is only on the completed chip version of the In Karta card.

What does “RAILPLUS” mean?

RAILPLUS is an international railway discount. Thanks to the RAILPLUS logo on your In Karta card, you can even enjoy discounts when travelling by train around Europe. You will receive the RAILPLUS discount when procuring a new In Karta card.

What should I do if I lose my In Karta card?

A lost or stolen completed In Karta card can be blocked free of charge electronically online, by telephone at the Contact Centre (tel. 221 111 122) after entering the password to block the card, or in person in any ČD ticket office. When blocking and unblocking an In Karta card in the ticket office, you must present a piece of personal identification. In the event of the loss, theft or damage of an In Karta card and a subsequent request that a duplicate In Karta card be issued, you will receive a provisional In Karta card – a duplicate as a temporary substitute for the application that you had on the lost In Karta card. For the issue of a duplicate In Karta card, you will pay a fee in the amount of CZK 100.

How can I get an In Karta card?

You can obtain an In Karta card by filling in a request form, submitting a photograph and paying the price of the selected application at any ČD ticket counter. You can pick up a request form for an In Karta card from a ticket counter. You can also purchase an In Karta card with a selected discount application online through the ČD e-shop.

It is also possible to purchase an In Karta card online?

Yes, through the ČD e-shop.

I will not be able to retrieve the chip In Karta card on the date specified on the provisional In Karta card. What will happen?

The permanent In Karta card will be ready for retrieval at the station of issue for a period of three months. Thereafter, it will be blocked as unretrieved and sent to be shredded. If in serious cases (e.g. hospitalisation) you will be unable to retrieve the In Karta card even by this date, please inform us by e-mail on info@inkarta.cz.

What should I do if I lose my provisional In Karta card? Is it possible to issue a duplicate?

On the date set for issue of the permanent In Karta card, go to the station which you selected on the request form. The chip In Karta card will be issued upon presentation of identification. It is not possible to issue a duplicate provisional In Karta card.

Why isn’t it obvious from the appearance of the In Karta card that it has e.g. the IN 25 application?

The advantage of a chip In Karta card is that several different applications can be recorded on it during its term of validity without the need to produce a new card every time there is a change. The fact that all customer In Karta cards have the same visual appearance allows for this flexibility.

How long does it take to issue a chip In Karta card?

Processing the request, production and delivery of a chip In Karta card to the selected station takes c. 28 days. For the period of production (provided that you do not request a card in advance sales), you will receive a provisional In Karta card which will allow you to take advantage of the benefits of the relevant application (IN 25, IN 50, IN 100, IN Důchodce (“IN Pensioner”), IN Senior or commuter tickets), but it will not allow you to take advantage of benefits linked to RAILPLUS. If you intend to take advantage of the benefits of RAILPLUS already with your provisional In Karta card (travel abroad), it is possible to request that the provisional In Karta card be issued with the RAILPLUS logo, although in this case it is necessary to submit a second photograph. You can use the provisional In Karta card immediately.
