If you don’t yet have an In Karta card, you can now get a new Virtual In Karta Card free of charge. It’s easy and takes just a few minutes using the Můj vlak (“My Train”) mobile application installed on your Android or iOS smartphone. We’ve also kept in mind those customers who currently hold plastic chip In Karta cards, which can be saved in the Můj vlak application as a Picture of an In Karta Card even without procuring a new Virtual In Karta Card.
In either case, it is necessary to have the Můj vlak mobile application version 12.0 or later installed on your smartphone, and to have a user account on www.cd.cz. You can find the Můj vlak application on Google Play (for Android telephones) or the App Store (for iOS telephones), where you can download it free of charge. If you don’t already have a user account, then you can create one right in the Můj vlak application and take care of everything using your smartphone. To one user account you can always associate only one In Karta card (Virtual In Karta Card or Picture of an In Karta Card), which cannot subsequently be associated to a different user account.
Having an In Karta card in your mobile telephone makes it easy to present discount applications and tickets, and to establish your identity for tickets purchased with your smartphone or in our e-shop. All you need to do is to show the conductor the QR code on your smartphone display and the conductor will see all your current tickets and discount applications, as well as your identity. You can also show your In Karta card to the conductor using any other smartphone or tablet on which the Můj vlak application is installed by logging into your account. This can be useful if you forget or lose your telephone.
The In Karta card in a mobile also includes the RailPlus discount for travel abroad. When travelling to foreign destinations, however, it is not sufficient to show the conductor only the QR code of your In Karta card instead of a ticket. Here, it is always necessary to display the QR code of the specific ticket (if travelling to Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Belgium, Denmark or Switzerland) or to have a printed version of the ticket (if travelling to other destinations).
The In Karta card in a mobile telephone does not contain an electronic wallet, and money deposited in the electronic wallet of a plastic chip In Karta card cannot be used in your smartphone.
More information about application "Můj vlak"
A Virtual In Karta Card is useful for everyone who doesn’t yet have a plastic chip In Karta card. Just provide your personal information, take a picture using your telephone (a selfie) or insert a photo from your telephone (the picture should be in the standard identification card format), and agree to the terms and conditions. A Virtual In Karta Card procured in this manner must be authorised by a conductor during your first train journey. The conductor will verify that your personal information and photo match those on your personal identification. Without this initial authorisation (verification) by a conductor, the Virtual In Karta Card is invalid; it cannot be used to display discount applications or discounted tickets purchased in conjunction with it, nor can it be used to establish your identity for tickets purchased electronically. After successful authorisation, you will no longer need your personal identification on subsequent journeys; all you will ever need is the QR code displayed on your mobile telephone.
A Virtual In Karta Card has unlimited temporal validity.
Any time after your Virtual In Karta Card has been authorised, you can use the “Send card for printing” button to send a confirmation to your e-mail address with two QR codes that contain basic information about your new In Karta card. We recommend that you print out this confirmation in business card format and carry it with you in your wallet just in case your phone becomes lost or inoperable.
Immediately after procuring your Virtual In Karta Card (even before you have a conductor authorise it), you can purchase one of the discount applications from within the Můj vlak mobile application – IN 25, IN 50, IN 100 and a discounted ticket using this discount application, or perhaps a commuter ticket; however, you can only use it after the Virtual In Karta Card has been authorised by a conductor. You can also purchase discount applications and tickets for your Virtual In Karta Card in the e-shop (as well as on ČD’s mobile website), and subsequently they will automatically be displayed on your smartphone too. With your Virtual In Karta Card in combination with a discount application you can also purchase a discounted ticket in the ticket office or from the conductor under standard terms and conditions (such a ticket is not saved on your smartphone, however, and you must present it during a ticket inspection in printed form together with the QR code of your Virtual In Karta Card displayed on your mobile telephone).
You can also use your Virtual In Karta Card even without discount applications to establish your identity for tickets purchased in the ČD e-shop, on the ČD mobile website, or in the Můj vlak mobile application. During a ticket inspection, you will always present just the QR code on your smartphone and the conductor will see your identity and currently valid tickets.
It is not possible to purchase a discount application for your Virtual In Karta Card in the ticket office. With a Virtual In Karta Card, it is not possible to transfer discount application to or from a different In Karta card, nor is it possible to upgrade applications. With a Virtual In Karta Card, it is not possible to procure a plastic chip In Karta card. A Virtual In Karta Card with valid applications cannot be erased.
If you already have a plastic chip In Karta card, you can save a picture of it in the Můj vlak mobile application. In so doing, you will save all the information from your In Karta card onto your smartphone. To create a Picture of an In Karta Card, you need to enter the password of your In Karta card. If you don’t know this password, you’ll have to have it reset in the ticket office or by e-mail. No authorisation/verification is performed by a conductor in this case. On subsequent journeys, you can just show the conductor the QR code and leave the plastic In Karta card at home.
The temporal validity of a Picture of an In Karta Card is the same as that of a plastic chip In Karta card (max. 6 years). After the plastic chip In Karta card expires, it will be necessary to procure a new plastic chip In Karta card (a duplicate of the original plastic chip In Karta card), which will be recorded automatically in the Můj vlak mobile application as well.
Data will be continuously synchronised between the plastic In Karta card and the Picture of an In Karta Card. You can thus purchase a discount application for your plastic In Karta card in the ticket office and this discount application will automatically appear with the Picture of an In Karta Card on your smartphone. Conversely, when you purchase a discount application for the Picture of an In Karta Card using the Můj vlak application, this will also be subsequently recorded onto your plastic In Karta card when it is inspected by a conductor. You can thus make full use of both your plastic In Karta card and the Picture of an In Karta Card on your mobile.
