Terms and Conditions for the Issue and Use of In-Karta Cards

Valid from 25 January 2023

What are the In-Karta card and ITS cards?

In Karta is a ČD discount card which serves a carrier of customer applications, travel documents and the bonus programmes of ČD and of its contractual partners, and as an electronic wallet; it can be procured no earlier than two months prior to the requested first day of validity.

The In Karta card can serve as a carrier of electronic money, a so-called electronic wallet (does not apply to In Karta cards in a mobile telephone).

An ITS card is a chip card of a different entity which has been activated or registered with ČD and is a carrier of ČD customer applications, travel documents and related travel documents, and if announced as such also an electronic wallet which can be used for payments with ČD.

Important notice

After submitting a request for the issue of an In Karta card and paying for the selected application, you will receive a provisional In Karta card or a confirmation of receipt of your request bearing, among other things, your name, surname, date of birth, and the number of your In Karta card (which you will receive after production). Your provisional In Karta card or confirmation of receipt of the request will be valid until you obtain your chip In Karta card, but no later than until the date specified on the provisional In Karta card or on the confirmation of receipt of the request. The provisional In Karta card serves to demonstrate eligibility for the selected inland discount.

Please keep the provisional In Karta card or confirmation of receipt of the request in a safe place. No compensation is provided for a lost or unreadable provisional In Karta card or provisional commuter ticket before the In Karta card is issued, nor can a duplicate be issued. During the term specified on the provisional In Karta card (confirmation of receipt), you should stop by the railway station you specified to retrieve the In Karta card. When retrieving your card, please verify that the card’s photograph, given name, surname, date of birth, and term of validity of ten years from the first day of validity are correct.

Also with your finished In Karta card, you will receive a confirmation containing its identifying information and a password that provides secure access to information concerning your In Karta card. After logging in on www.cd.cz, you can change your password. You can also change your password at a ČD ticket counter.

What to do if you lose your In Karta card

You can block your In Karta card at any ČD ticket counter, online on https://www.cd.cz/profil-uzivatele/spravce-inkaret/neregistrovany/, or by telephone on the customer hotline (tel. +420 221 111 122). In order to block your In Karta card by telephone and to log into the ČD website, it is necessary to enter or provide to the operator your personal data, In Karta card number and the above-mentioned password. Without providing a valid password, it is not possible to block an In Karta card. Your In Karta card will be blocked without a fee after verification of your personal data. A duplicate In Karta card can be requested in person at a ČD ticket counter or in the ČD e-shop. To issue a duplicate In Karta card or to unblock an In Karta card, a fee is charged per the ČD Tariff.

Contractual relationship between the In Karta cardholder and ČD

A contractual relationship between ČD as the issuer and the cardholder arises at the moment of takeover of the In Karta card, or on the first day of the term of validity of the provisional In Karta card with the selected application per the ČD Tariff. The contractual relationship shall terminate no later than 6 months from the In Karta card’s expiration date, unless another card is requested before this date.

If an electronic monetary means will be placed on the In Karta card, the signed “Request/Contract on the Issue and Use of an In Karta Card” shall change into a “Contract on the Use of an Electronic Monetary Means”, which shall become effective when monetary means are deposited. This contract is governed by the “Terms and Conditions for the Issue and Use of an In Karta Card as an Electronic Monetary Means Storing Electronic Prepaid Credit and Terms and

Conditions for the Recognition of Electronic Monetary Means on the Contactless Chip Cards of Other Entities” (VOP). In the event of an In Karta card used as an electronic wallet on which there is no balance of monetary means, the contractual relationship shall terminate no later than 6 months from the In Karta card’s expiration date, unless another card is requested before this date. If, on an In Karta card used as an electronic wallet, there is a balance of monetary means even after the In Karta card’s expiration date, then the contractual relationship shall terminate no later than on the day when there is a zero balance of electronic prepaid credit on the In Karta card, but no later than 4 years after the In Karta card’s expiration date or 4 years after the date on which it was blocked. In the event of discrepancies regarding the duration of the contractual relationship, the VOP shall take precedence. Unless specified otherwise in these terms and conditions, the legal relationships arising under the “Request/Contract on the Issue and Use of an In Karta Card”, as well as the relationships arising under the “Contract on the Use of an Electronic Monetary Means” between the issuer and the holder of electronic monetary means shall be governed by Act No. 89/2012 Coll., Civil Code, as amended.
