Use and terms of the City Star ticket

tickets are always for a return journey
tickets are offered for 1st or 2nd class
advance sales begin up to 2 months prior to departure
the second to fifth passengers receive a discount abroad of up to 50% off the fare for the first passenger
holders of In Karta/RailPlus and their accompanying passengers receive additional discounts on trips to Croatia
the age limit for children is from 6 to 14 years of age; children under 6 years of age are transported free of charge
for the inland segment, the regular fare is paid, or the customer fare in the case of In Karta/RailPlus cardholders (it is sufficient for just one passenger from the group to have an In Karta/RailPlus card); for trips to Slovakia the customer fare is provided to all passengers
ticket validity is 1 month
upgrades to a higher carriage class and changes to the transport route are not permitted (does not apply to City Star Slovakia); it is not permitted to interrupt the journey
tickets can be returned for reasons on the passenger’s side only prior to the first day of validity; refunds are not granted for partially unused tickets

Conditions for travel on a City Star ticket

purchase no later than 3 days prior to departure (this condition does not apply to City Star to Slovakia, which can be purchased on the day of departure)
when using required-reservation trains with City Star tickets, it is necessary to purchase the relevant reservation (seat reservation, couchette or sleeper supplement)

CityStar ticket for Brno – Bratislava and return, 2nd class:

for 2 persons the price is c. CZK 789 (EUR 28.60)
for 3 persons the price is c. CZK 1,148 (EUR 41.60)

For CityStar Slovakia tickets, no further discount is available to In Karta/Rail Plus cardholders; the customer fare is provided to all passengers.

CityStar ticket for Prague – Budapest and return, 2nd class:

Bez In Karty/Rail plus:

for 2 persons the price is c. CZK 4,819 (EUR 174.60)
for 3 persons the price is c. CZK 7,077 (EUR 256.40)

If at least one of the passengers is an In Karta/Rail Plus cardholder:

for 2 persons the price is c. CZK 4,179 (EUR 151.40)
for 3 persons the price is c. CZK 6,616 (EUR 221.60)

Ticket prices are set in EUR. The price in CZK may change according to the current exchange rate against the euro.

FAQs

In the end I decided not to make the trip. Can I return the ticket?

Yes. A City Star ticket can be returned, but no later than on the day preceding the first day of its term of validity.

How much do children pay for a City Star ticket?

Children pay half fare (regular fare or customer fare).

What is the age limit for a child?

For City Star tickets, the age limits in the individual foreign countries to which or through which you will travel do not matter. Determinative in this case is the age limit in the country in which you purchase the City Star ticket. For tickets sold at a ČD ticket counter, the age limit for children is 18 years (i.e. until the day which precedes the day of the child’s 18th birthday). Children under 6 years of age are transported free of charge.
