Terms and Conditions

Free transport for children is permitted for children under 4 years of age and on certain railways under 6 years of age (Attika Enterprises – Belgium, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Denmark, Croatia, Finland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, Romania), provided separate seats are not required.

A discount of 50% off the regular fare is provided for children under 12 years of age, and ranging up to 19 years of age on certain railways:

• under 14 years of age – in Montenegro, Hungary, Romania and Serbia
• under 15 years of age – in Germany, Austria 
• under 16 years of age – in Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Northern Ireland and Switzerland
• under 17 years of age – in Finland
• under 20 years of age – in Sweden

For international tickets sold in the Czech Republic, age thresholds for transporting children on the ČD segment are recognised according to the inland TR 10 Tariff: transport free of charge under 6 years of age (provided the child does not require a separate seat) and a 50% discount for children from 6 to 14 years of age. The same age threshold applies for travel between ČD and Slovakia’s rail operator.

Discounted transport of accompanied children under 15 to Western Europe

For First Minute Europe (Včasná jízdenka Evropa) tickets to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, Luxembourg (as of a forthcoming announcement) or Belgium (for DB ICE trains only), children under 15 years of age accompanied by a parent or grandparent on ÖBB, DB, SBB/CFF, NS, DSB or CFL (as of a forthcoming announcement) lines are transported free of charge. To demonstrate eligibility, the passenger’s oral declaration that the child belongs to the family is sufficient. A separate travel document is issued for the child which refers to the adult passenger’s travel document. Reservations (sleeper, couchette, seats) for the child are paid in the full amount. For the ČD segment, the child pays 50% of the international fare. Discounted tickets for accompanied children can presently be purchased for this offer only at ČD ticket counters which issue international tickets. They CANNOT be purchased in the ČD e-shop, in the mobile e-shop, or using the Můj vlak (“My Train”) application. In this case, please bring your request to ticket an accompanied child to a ČD ticket counter which issues international tickets.

Children accompanied by parents/grandparents who travel to Germany with an NRT ticket or discounted NRT ticket are transported under the same terms. For the ČD segment, the child pays 50% of the international fare. Discounted tickets for accompanied children can be purchased at a ticket counter which issues international tickets, in the ČD e-shop, in the mobile e-shop, or using the Můj vlak (“My Train”) application.
