What kind of tickets should I purchase?

For a journey from Děčín to Dolní Poustevna, you can purchase an inland ticket even though you will travel across German territory. But you can also use the line for a trip to Germany with the discounted MPS Sebnitz ticket.

Line 083 Děčín – Bad Schandau – Sebnitz – Dolní Poustevna (line U28) offers

Direct train connections on the mentioned routes start in the Czech Republic in Děčín, continue through Bad Schandau – Sebnitz in Germany, and return to the Czech Rumburk via Dolní Poustevna.

Domestic Journey

For domestic transportation of passengers from stations in the Czech Republic to stations in the Czech Republic via transit through Germany (the passenger does not board or disembark in Germany), TR 10 (Czech Railways Tariff for Domestic Passenger and Luggage Transport) and SPPO (Czech Railways Contractual Transport Conditions for Public Railway Passenger Transport) apply in full.

Domestic Journey in Germany

For domestic journeys within Germany, the fare and transport conditions of the Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe (VVO) apply. If the passenger is cleared according to the DB fare, then the DB fare and conditions apply. Czech Railways conductors perform tasks on German domestic transport under an agreement between Czech Railways and DB, selling selected VVO tickets.

Journey to Germany with an MPS Sebnitz Ticket

If the passenger's boarding station is in the Czech Republic and the destination station is in Germany (or vice versa), the special MPS Sebnitz fare applies. Tickets are issued at ticket offices and on route 083 by conductors on the train. When boarding the train at stations located in Germany, no handling surcharge applies (regardless of whether a ticket office is open or a ticket machine is installed at the station).

Types of MPS Sebnitz Tickets:

Adults: one-way and period tickets,
Children aged 6 – 18 years: one-way and period tickets
Students aged 18 – 26 years: one-way and period tickets,
Passengers aged 65+: one-way and period tickets,
Bicycles: one-way tickets,
Dogs: one-way tickets.

Period tickets are available for 7, 30, or 90 days.

Passengers who purchase MPS Sebnitz tickets in Germany from ticket machines or at ticket offices must validate their tickets at a validator on the platform before boarding the train (ticket sales in Germany from the time of announcement).

Tickets not validated in the validator are invalid, and the passenger will be cleared according to the MPS Sebnitz fare (without a handling surcharge). Children under 6 travel free, and children aged 6 – 15 do not need to prove their eligibility for children's fares; a verbal declaration of age is sufficient. Children aged 15-18 must present a personal document. Students must present a valid student card; the discount is provided year-round (including during holidays). Passengers aged 65+ must present a personal document.

The transportation of bicycles is allowed based on a bicycle ticket. Dogs not transported in a fully enclosed carrier are transported based on a one-way dog ticket.

All types of fares under the MPS Sebnitz tariff are set as second-class relational fares (upgrade to first class is not possible); for each relation marked with a numerical code, the price is fixed in EUR. For payment in CZK, a standard railway exchange rate applies (an overview of relations and numerical codes is listed in the MPS Sebnitz fare list).

International ticket prices are fixed in euros and converted to CZK based on the valid standard railway exchange rate.

International Transport – NRT and RPT Tickets and Connecting Tickets to/from Border Points

On the Děčín - Bad Schandau - Sebnitz - Rumburk route in international transport, tickets issued according to the international NRT and RPT tariff (InterRail/Eurail) are also valid. NRT tickets through the Sebnitz Gr. border point cannot be issued. The issue of Czech Railways tickets to/from border points according to the TR 10 tariff (Schöna Gr., Sebnitz Gr.) is carried out in cases where passengers use a connecting ticket valid for further transport to/from the border point in Germany (e.g., InterRail/Eurail tickets, DB BahnCard 100).

At Czech Railways ticket offices or when purchasing tickets on the train, payment can be made in CZK or EUR. When purchasing tickets in Germany from ticket machines or at ticket offices, payment is only possible in EUR.
