We help visually impaired passengers with finding connections and purchasing tickets, as well as with orientation at stations and on trains. Information about connections and our services is easily accessible, including via screen readers for the visually impaired. We transport guide and assistance dogs free of charge within the Czech Republic.

Easy connection search and other information

Visually impaired passengers can easily search for a connection on our website www.cd.cz/spojeni-a-jizdenka/, which is also adapted for the visually impaired. The website allows text enlargement and the use of a voice reader (screen reader). It thus meets the requirements of a Blind friendly web and W3C standards. After finding a connection, you can also buy a ticket for your journey directly online. We have adapted the entire www.cd.cz website for visually impaired passengers, so it is no problem to find any information about tickets, provided services, or the current train journey.

Information at hand even on the go

Our My Train (Můj vlak) mobile application, which you can install for free on your Android or iOS mobile phone, is also adapted for visually impaired passengers. The mobile application allows you to search for train connections, even without an internet connection, enables ticket purchases, and provides complete information about services at stations and station accessibility for the disabled. But the most important are the up-to-date train information, where you immediately get information about the current location of the train, any delays, and the next station including the platform and track number where the train will arrive. The application can also warn you in time before getting off the train or transferring to another train. Naturally, there is complete information about lockouts or extraordinary events and related current measures.

Guide and assistance dogs free of charge within the Czech Republic

Guide dogs of a blind ZTP/P card holder and assistance dogs are transported free of charge on ČD trains, they do not have to wear muzzles, and they cannot be excluded or refused from transport. Guide dogs for the blind and assistance dogs can travel together with passengers even in 1st class.

Traveling abroad with a guide dog for the blind

A guide dog acting as a guide for the blind can be transported free of charge in both 1st and 2nd carriage class under the following conditions:

you can obtain a free ticket for a dog as a guide for the blind upon presentation of a ZTP/P card issued in the Czech Republic due to visual impairment (marked with a blind person pictogram), while blind passengers also prove their entitlement to free transport of a guide dog during ticket inspection on the train
these tickets are issued as one-way or return
free transport of a guide dog is not possible if the blind person travels on one of the network tickets (e.g., Interrail) and on trains with global prices
free transport of a guide dog is possible between the following railways: SNCB/NMBS (Belgium), BDZ (Bulgaria), ČD (Czech Republic), ŽCG (Montenegro), DSB (Denmark), SNCF (France), HZ (Croatia), TRENITALIA (Italy), CIE (Ireland), CFL (Luxembourg), MAV/GYSEV (Hungary), CFARYM (Macedonia), DB (Germany), NS (Netherlands), PKP (Poland), ÖBB (Austria), CFR (Romania), CH (Greece), NIR (Ireland), CP (Portugal), OSE (Greece), ZSSK (Slovakia), SŽ (Slovenia), ŽS (Serbia), RENFE (Spain), SBB/CFF (Switzerland)

You won't get lost on the train

Our trains are easily accessible even for visually impaired passengers. In new and modernized trains, all controls are marked with Braille labels. In some trains, there are also special reserved seats for visually impaired passengers located near the entrance doors. For easy boarding, navigation beacons are installed in the vehicles, guiding visually impaired passengers to the boarding doors. Information about the next station and possible extraordinary events is also announced via the public address system. You will also be notified via the PA system of important facts – for example, a request stop where it is necessary to press a button to stop the train; after pressing the button, you will also receive confirmation of the train stopping via the PA system.

We will help you at the station

If you are traveling from an unknown station, we can help you orient yourself and find your train, as far as it is within our power. Before your journey, you can order an assistance service online or at any of our ticket counters. Assistance means providing help to persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility and orientation when boarding and alighting from the vehicle, escorting to the train, help with purchasing a travel document, etc., according to the possibilities of ČD employees at the given station. This form is therefore not intended for ordering other services for passengers, e.g., providing luggage porter services, babysitting, etc. An order for assistance for journeys within the Czech Republic must be sent at least 24 hours before the train departs from the starting or border crossing station, so that we can check our possibilities in time and let you know whether you can count on the assistance. When traveling to or from abroad, please contact us no later than 36 hours before the train departs, later we can no longer arrange and guarantee the service with foreign partners.

If you are traveling on a train of another carrier, it is necessary to order the journey on their train directly with the given carrier. You will not find trains of other carriers in our connection search engine.

If you will be combining multiple different carriers during your journey, order a journey with a wheelchair or assistance at the station through the One Ticket Assistance booking system.
