What is a Group Ticket?

Travelling with a scout group, on a school excursion or on a trip with friends? Take advantage of a Group Ticket and save while travelling aboard our trains. For larger groups, we even reserve space on board and provide reservations free of charge.

The Group Ticket offers

We offer the Group Ticket for 2 or more passengers:

the first passenger pays the full fare (basic Flexi fare)
the second passenger has a 25% discount
the third and each additional passenger have a discount of approximately 40%

Are there 20 or more of you traveling?

travel for a group of 20 or more people must be booked in advance
when booking your journey in advance, we will provide you with free seat reservations (except for trains with mandatory seat reservations) for each ČD train on which you travel at least 15 km, if possible
on trains where it is not possible to purchase seat reservations, we will reserve seats for your journey free of charge, if possible (seats cannot be reserved on Airport Express services and on replacement transport)
if the train capacity is exhausted and it is technically possible, we will reserve seats for you in a booster carriage
free reservation of space for bicycles, subject to availability in regularly scheduled carriages

The ticket cannot be used for intra-regional journeys by passenger trains (Os) and fast trains (Sp) in the Zlín, Pilsen, South Moravian and Moravian-Silesian regions.

Group Ticket Conditions

The discount is only granted in 2nd class when traveling together with at least 2 and a maximum of 99 fellow passengers.

The total price for the transport of a group of 2 to 19 people is calculated as follows:

the first passenger pays the basic Flexi fare for adults
the second passenger receives a 25% discount on the basic Flexi fare for adults
the third and each additional passenger receives a discount of approximately 40% on the basic Flexi fare for adults

The total price for the transport of a group of 20 or more people is calculated as follows:

the group transport ordering system generates and combines the currently available best value fares for all members of the group.

Group of 20 or more people

When traveling in groups of 20 or more people, it is necessary to book the journey no later than 72 hours before the journey using the order form order form, at the ČD ticket counter or by phone at the Central Customer Service on 221 111 122. For each order, ČD will then check the possibilities of your transport and, if the order is approved, you will receive a transaction code that you will use when purchasing tickets. Tickets must be purchased at the ticket counter or in the ČD e-shop in the ČD e-shop within the specified period or no later than 48 hours before the train departure, otherwise the order will be forfeited.

When you book your journey in advance, we will provide you with free seat reservations for each ČD train on which you travel at least 15 km:

Group of up to 19 people

When traveling in groups of up to 19 people, it is not necessary to book the journey in advance. However, in this case you cannot take advantage of the benefits of booking your journey in advance.

Group Ticket Pricelist

The price of the Group Ticket depends on the tariff distance. The tariff distance is determined for the actual transport route between railway stations according to the kilometers stated in the timetable of the railway operator and is at least 1 kilometer and a maximum of 600 kilometers.

Group of 2 to 19 passengers

The first passenger pays the basic Flexi fare for adults, the second passenger pays 75% of the basic Flexi fare for adults, the third and each additional passenger pays 60% of the basic Flexi fare for adults.

Group of 20 or more passengers

The group transport ordering system generates and combines the currently available best value fares for all members of the group

I purchased a group ticket in the ČD e-shop. How should I proceed if fewer of us will travel?

For tickets purchased in the ČD e-shop, requests for a refund in the case of complete or partial non-use are submitted right on the ČD e-shop website; such requests cannot be submitted at ticket counters. For these travel documents, partial non-use cannot be documented by a confirmation issued at the boarding station, but it is essential to request a confirmation from the conductor (from an authorised ČD employee) on each train used.

I purchased a group ticket, but fewer of us will travel. How should I proceed?

In the case of partial non-use of a ticket purchased at a ticket counter or on the train and used by a lesser number of passengers, the payout of a refund is conditional on a confirmation of the actual number of passengers issued by the cashier at the boarding station or by the conductor on the first train used. The payout of the refund is subject to the same conditions as in the case of complete non-use, but with the difference that the right need not be exercised (the request need not be submitted) on the first day of the ticket’s term of validity, but rather, without undue delay, no later than six months following the first day of the travel document’s term of validity.

I have a group ticket, but we cancelled the trip. How should I proceed?

In the event of complete non-use of a ticket, it is possible to request a refund no later than on the first day of the ticket’s term of validity at any ticket counter with the proviso that if the ticket was paid for in cash the refund will be paid out in cash only at the station where the ticket was purchased. If payment was made using a payment card, the request can be made at any station with a terminal for accepting cards upon presentation of the payment card with which the ticket was purchased; in the case of tickets paid for with the wallet on an In Karta card, the request can be made at any ticket office. In other cases, the request for a refund will usually be processed within a period of one week to one month depending on the number of cases being processed; the maximum period for processing is three months from the date on which the request is submitted. This period follows from legislation and is merely the allowed time limit for review in the case of complicated situations.

How does it work if the group includes children or pensioners?

Age plays no role for group tickets. The discount is provided solely on the basis of the number of persons in the group. For groups of 6 or more persons, it is necessary to book the trip in advance.
